INTRODUCTION TO MEDIEVAL ART AND ARCHITECTURE
Exercise 113-Decorative Motifs
This exercise consists of eleven works of medieval art, each
one on a separate webpage. Each page has the work of art at the top. Note
down the major components of style in each- Other than figure style.
Consider elements of landscape, architecture, and ornament. Ascribe each
slide to a period -if you can (You will need to use figural elements as
well to help you do this). Type a short paragraph about these stylistic
motifs. Then click on the "Answer" link for some suggestions. THE SUGGESTED ANSWERS WILL APPEAR IN "POP UP" WINDOWS, SO MAKE SURE YOUR BROWSER IS SET TO ALLOW POP-UPS.
If you are interested in the identifications, you can
find them in small letters on the answer page. However, you do not
need to memorize them.
