REQUIREMENTS
Attendance at lectures and use of the lecture materials in
UCIR/Computer
labs; attendance at sections (attendance is mandatory and class
participation
is factored into your grade), participation in section visits and
discussion,
and completion of exercise materials.
Grades are based on the midterm, final exam and three written papers, and weighted by class attendance and participation. The three papers are one each on painting, architecture, and sculpture. Dates and topics are listed on the Course Schedule (penalities for late work).
Final grade for the course is based on performance in the midterm and final (20 points each) and 3 written papers (20 points each). No incompletes will be given. Your final grade will be based on the work you have completed on the day of the final exam.
This website is the required 'text' for the course. A supplementary text book, James Snyder, Medieval Art, New York: Prentice Hall-Abrams, 1989, is available at the University Bookstore but is not required. Supplementary recommended readings are included on the pages of this website and the books are available in the Frick Fine Arts Library.
