The Nicholas Lochoff  Cloister

In the cloister outside the entrance to the University Art Gallery you can see  reproductions of 15th-century Italian Renaissance paintings by Russian artist Nicholas Lochoff. In 1911, Lochoff was commissioned by the Moscow Museum of Fine Arts to travel to Italy and make copies of well-known Italian Renaissance paintings. These exceptional replicas were eventually purchased by Helen Clay Frick who donated them the University and arranged for their display in the Frick Fine Arts Building.
